Let the Chaos Begin!

The day as usual started off with the prayer at the chapel. The first hour was by Maya ma'am. The hour was used for completing the seminar of Englush association. Today Aparna and Varsha concluded the seminar by consolidating all the points discussed in the previous clasddd. This led to a bigger discussion about 'tolerance'.When we live in a society we must be able to accept different cultures and religions. Like Giby ma'am had discussed before, there should be more of an acceptance rather than adjustment. Since, acceptance has more longevity than adjustment. After the class, we had Benedict sir's class where he continued his discussion on the skills of microteaching. Later after lunch each house held discussions for the upcoming arts fest. In our group, the seniors have been a great support. I've been assigned to choreograph for the group dance. Hopefully, eberything will turn out good.

House Division

After a gap we are back to sitting in classes listening to seminars. The first hour was by Maya ma'am and ma'am continued with seminar presentations by the English association. Jis and Kavya did their presentation on Indian dances with demonstrations. Later there was a small debate in class about the role of women in the Indian society over the years.  Later during the optional hour, I did my seminar on 'Assignment'. Again after lunch we had Joju sir's seminar presentations. Later, we were divided into houses for our Arts Day celebrations. Looking forward for our practice sessions.

Nisarga 2021

Today was the official inaugration of the 65th union. The guest for the event were Rajan Varghese, member secretary, Kerala State Higher Education and Nayana, actor and dancer. There was a dance performance by Nayana along with the union members and our teachers. The college band 'Thelaya' showcased a very unique accapella perfomance.  The first perfomance after lunch was our group song. Our confidence went down a little bit when one of the boys heckled us during the performance. But everyone in the group handled it very well. After several rehearsals we nailed our performance for Drishyam event and secured the second place. The collective effort of each and everyone in class is the sole reason behind this success.

Dance Dance 💃!

Today our seniors officially welcomed us with our fresher's day program ' Glucose'. Like the name it was power packed. RJ Unni from Red Fm was the chief guest. The most nerve racking as well as entertaining part of the event was 'Chakkapazham'. They would pick lots and call students from the first year and give them different tasks. Many of them exceeded my expectations. I was called to play dumb charades with a pair. My partner did a great job in enacting the character but I did not do a great job at guessing.  We the hostelers along with the union members did a flashmob to reveal the name and motto of the college union. The hardwork really paid off. Really excited and nervous about our performance tomorrow.

Another Session of Practices

Today the first hour was by Maya ma'am. We learned about cultural diffusion. Ma'am and the class came up with really interesting examples for cultural diffusion. We learnt the difference between enculturation and acculturation. Later Benedict sir continued his lecture on microteaching. Sir, explained how to change the heterogeneous nature of a class into homogeneous by asking questions and drawing the attention of the students to the teacher. Later in the optional hour Pranav, Sruthy and Shilpa did their seminars on heuristic, lecture and deduction-induction methods. After that we were given time to practice for 'Drishyam' event to be held on Wednesday for the union inaugration. Though in the initial discussion we decided on the climax scene from 'Manichitrathazhu', due to the difficulty in execution we decided to do the reenactment of a scene from ' Pedakozhi Koovunnu Nootandu'. The video is edited and hopefully we can start our practice by tomorrow.

Payasam for Everyone 💪

Today was the last day of the practical examinations for our seniors. Though it was done for the Maths association by yesterday, today we got to listen to a biology class by Parvathy from Natural Science Association. It has been a long time since I've attended a biology class. The class was about 'White Blood Cells'. The class was activity oriented and I was quite impressed with myself and my classmates for answering the biology questions. To celebrate the brilliant performances by our seniors in the KTET examination and also to mark the end of the practical exams, payasam was distributed to everyone in college. After lunch we had seminar presentation by the English association during Maya ma'am's hour. After that we had the auditions for the college band. From my class, Revathy, Shilpa and me went for the auditions. This is the first time I have sung solo in front of an audience. It was a totally new experience for me.

Presentations!

Today also our seniors had their practical exams. After the practical examination we had Joju sir's class. Today we began the seminar presentations. The natural science association were the first ones to go. There were few technical hiccups in between but Joju sir utilised the time to discuss the merits and demerits of social media in education. Looking forward to the other seminar presentations in the coming classes.

Jodha Akbar 💑

Today marked the beginning of the practical examination for our seniors. Due to the pandemic, we were the students for their classes. Each class was lively and ensured maximum student participation. The practical examinations were till lunch break after that we had our general paper classes. During Maya ma'am's we had a talk rather than a lecture. Ma'am discussed about self-esteem. One way to boost our self esteem is through giving people who cannot return us the favor through any kind or money. So when we feel a little low or doubt our abilities.....give. In the last hour, during Giby ma'am's hour we did a fun activity. Half the class wrote two words in two pieces of paper where the pair of words complement each other for example, salt and pepper, Romeo and Juliet etc. Then each person has to take one piece and find the other person with the word which goes with their word. I got Akbar and after a long search I found my Jodha among the crowd. Later each pair had to

Sa Re Ga Ma....

The day began with Ancy ma'am's class. In between the class Devika from English gave a soothing rendition of 'Azhalinte Azhangalil'. In the class we discussed about Maria Montessori. Later, we had Maya ma'am's class and we discussed about culture and culture gap.  Later in Joju sir's class we discussed about the wide range of possibilities in student participation through blackboard. The last hour was Arts and Aesthetics class and we learned the basic Sa Re Ga Ma.... of classical music. A powerful voice is the most important tool of a teacher and with a good training we can maintain a strong voice.

ha !!! 🤛👊

The first hour was by Giby ma'am. During the class we discussed about maladjustment and how our mind always finds ways to channelise its worries. Ma'am introduced us to the 'Umm Umm Therapy'. It is a method in which the therapist or the listener prompts the speaker to vent out his feeling by saying 'umm?'. Any person who is a good listener can be a 'umm' therapist. After that we had our Induction Analysis followed by the oath taking ceremony for the newly elected union members. After lunch, the women's cell club organized the a self defense class as a part of women's day celebration. The class was taken by Jaya Mary, Anees Bhal and Athulya from the Kerala police. During the talk Anees ma'am stressed on the fact that  women must always react and never remain silent when a man mistreats her. They demonstrated few warm up exercises and self defense moves. She also encouraged us to join their self defense classes at Palayam.

Start Music!

The day began with Maya ma'am's class. Ma'am began with educational sociology. After that we had Ancy ma'am's where we continued with Froebel.  Later we had our first communicative english class. Maya ma'am and Joju sir are the teachers in charge of the program. We were shown a video by Prof Sumitha Roy which was very informative and useful. Sir, selected Pranav, Uthara, Gayathri, Jis, Kavya and Ganga were selected to assist sir in this program. Inspired from the class, we decided not to speak a word in Malyalam for the rest of the day otherwise the speaker would be charged with a fine of Rs 5. Soon the class became silent with the occasional 'Ya ya ya...'. But everyone tried their best to speak in English.  After lunch we had our first arts and aesthetics class. This class will be handled by Lakshmi ma'am. She divided us into 6 groups. Ma'am made all the singers in the class come forward and sing a song which made the class more lively. Later m

Last Day at Sarvodaya

Today was our second and last day of our school induction at Sarvodaya. The first duty of the day was at the reception. Eight of us were assigned to record the student details and check their body temperature at the reception. Later, English, physical science and natural science optional students observed online classes while the rest of us observed offline classes. Myself and Archana got to observe a Maths class taken by Mrs Asha Skariya. We had observed ma’am’s class yesterday but yesterday the class only had girls while today it was boys. While the girls did their sums calmly, boys did their problems with much more energy and enthusiasm. There were few of them who were eager to say their answers in class. Sitting in the classroom with the students took me back to my school days. After the classes we had a small photo session with the teachers and the principal. School induction was a grest way to familiarize us with school and its working.

First day of School Induction

Today was the first day of school induction at Sarvodaya Central School (CBSE). Thirteen of us reached the school at 8 am. Due to the pandemic only class 10 students had offline classes while the other grades had online classes. After meeting with the principal we were given chance to observe few classes. Students from each optional observed atleast two classes of their concerned subjects.  Then few of us visited the library and went through the school magazines and handbook to understand the history and working of the school. Classrooms are equipped with smartboards. Each class is divided into two batches and they attend school in alternate days.  Later we all had a tour of the school and had a look at the different facilities available in the campus. We had discipline duty during the recess. By 3 pm we were ready to head back home. Altogether it was a great day, looking forward to coming back here for our second day at the school.

65th College Union

The day began with a prayer. The first hour was by Giby ma'am where she discussed about 'Adjustment vs Acceptance'. If we keep adjusting our life instead of accepting the situation we might get tired of it. Acceptance of others and our circumstances will help us to lead a more peaceful life. During Maya ma'am's class we continued our discussion on humanism. We learned about Maslow's traingle of needs. During the optional hours ma'am conducted microteaching  demonstrations. Today I completed both of my demonstrations. I got 'Skill of illustrating with examples' and 'Skill of stimulus variation'. I got few feedbacks from Aswathy and Archana, hopefully I'll able to make the necessary changes in my lesson plans. Later we selected to Sajin, Aleena and Aby as our representatives to the college union. After our lunch break we had Joju sir's class where he gave a small presentation on visual aids. Later three repsentatives from each class to

Demonstrations, School Induction, Microteaching...........

For two days we had class demonstrations by our seniors. Each demonstration showed the ways we can use teaching aids, ICT, to include children in group activities etc. This gave us a more clear picture on how to do our microteaching sessions. After the demonstrations we had microteaching sessions of Neema, Aby, Shilpa and Aswathy. Each of them did a great job. Then yesterday we had our Science Day celebrations 'Ramafi 2021' which was organized by the Physical science, Natural science and Maths associations. We, the Math association had a special edition of 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire?'. There was a great participation and involvement from the students and the faculty. The Physical Science association conducted a program called the 'Game of Facts' where a group of five from each optional class is supposed to make up a story using the picture displayed in the screen. The Natural Science association conducted a quiz but the winners are those who spelled out the

Q for Quarantine

Due to unexpected turn of events, the hostelers at MTTC had to go into a week long home quarantine. Initially, we were confused about what had to be done, most of us were worried about the classes we were going to miss in these times. While others just went with the flow. The video calls among the hostelers definitely helped us through the quarantine. I spent my time reading, completing all of my pending works in college etc. At the college during this week we started with Microteaching. Deepthi ma'am conducted an online class during the weekend for the absentees and on Monday each of the other ten did their presentation emphsasing on different skills. This gave us an idea on what has to be done for microteaching. On Tuesday (2 March), we had online classes. The first hour was by Joju sir, where he gave us the instructions on how to do a practicum. During the next hour Giby ma'am asked us to compare ourselves to an object that best suits our personalities. In the last hour, we
