Jodha Akbar ๐Ÿ’‘

Today marked the beginning of the practical examination for our seniors. Due to the pandemic, we were the students for their classes. Each class was lively and ensured maximum student participation. The practical examinations were till lunch break after that we had our general paper classes. During Maya ma'am's we had a talk rather than a lecture. Ma'am discussed about self-esteem. One way to boost our self esteem is through giving people who cannot return us the favor through any kind or money. So when we feel a little low or doubt our abilities.....give.
In the last hour, during Giby ma'am's hour we did a fun activity. Half the class wrote two words in two pieces of paper where the pair of words complement each other for example, salt and pepper, Romeo and Juliet etc. Then each person has to take one piece and find the other person with the word which goes with their word. I got Akbar and after a long search I found my Jodha among the crowd. Later each pair had to come forward and describe their partners. Everyone came up with interesting phrases and it was a great way to end the day.

Day 31 of Online Classes

Today was the logo release and inauguration of the social science association. They have chosen the name 'เดเด•്เดฏ ' which means to become one. The name is a good reminder for these times where the world is divided in the name of religion, caste, race, resources etc.  The chief guest was Arya Rajendran, the  mayor  of Trivandrum and is the youngest (22 years) to hold that position. Felicitations were expressed by singers Mrs. Veena Haridas and Mr. Ravishankar. The surprising fact was that there were almost 100 participants throughout the program. The effort taken by each and everyone of the class (as well as from other classes) could be seen.

Sports Meet 2022

Finally, the day is here. We've been scheduling the sports meet for quite some meet. It had to be postponed due to unexpected rains and finally, it was conducted on Sep 12 and 13 soon after the Onam holidays. We had shotput, javelin throw, 50m, 100 m etc. The involvement and participation in the second years were a little low compared to the first years. Events like shot put, javelin throw, 50 m race etc had good participation. The selection of students for the finals of each event was done on the first day. The finals followed by prize distribution were done on the second day. I was supposed to run the100m race but had to pull out due to previous complications in my leg injury. But I got to participate in the march past which was totally unexpected. By the end of the day, we were dead tired from the scorching sun, but it was all worth it.

Not a Typical Movie Review

We were assigned with the task of watching a movie and understand its educational implications. I had  chosen the movie 'Dead Poets Society (1989)' directed by Peter Weir starring the late Robin Williams. I'd seen this movie a while ago but this time, I decided to watch it to understand what makes John Keating different from other teachers. This Academy award winning movie is set in a conservative boy's boarding school named Welton's Academy which is known for churning out disciplined and academically brilliant students. The story focuses on a group of seventeen year old boys and their English teacher John Keating (Robin Williams). John Keating is a nonconformist and lives by the phrase 'Carpe Diem' which means 'seize the day'. He encourages his students to get rid of their fears, find their voices and live their lives to the fullest through poetry. Their newfound interest in poetry led them to create a secret club named Dead Poets Society. One of t...
