A Peek into the Life of a Student Teacher

 Today we discussed the lesson plans made by the other two groups during the first hour. Later,  it was the inauguration of our health club. The club is named is "Swastha" and its motto is  'Divitiae Salutis Est' which means 'Health is Wealth'. The chief guest was Mr. Anand Narayan who is a well known TV anchor, singer and moreover a Happiness Coach. He conducted an interactive session where we all did the Bhastrika Pranayama and later had a guided meditation for 20 minutes. The sense of serenity it gave was inexplicable. Overall it was a well coordinated and well executed program.

 Today the first hour was Joju sir's. We continued with the seminar presentations for those who couldn't do their presentations on the allotted day. Later, we had the inauguration of the media club and there was an interactive session with the chief guest Dr. Asha Jeevan Sathyan.

Today the first hour was optionals. We used the time to discuss our lesson plans. We decided to choose the topic 'Sum of Squares' from Class 8's Math portions. The next class was by Joju sir  where the physical science optionals continued their seminar. Today's topics included Zoomerang, Lime survey etc. I never knew that there were a variety of tools available online to conduct surveys and quizzes. 

 Today was the logo release and inauguration of the social science association. They have chosen the name 'ഐക്യ ' which means to become one. The name is a good reminder for these times where the world is divided in the name of religion, caste, race, resources etc.  The chief guest was Arya Rajendran, the  mayor  of Trivandrum and is the youngest (22 years) to hold that position. Felicitations were expressed by singers Mrs. Veena Haridas and Mr. Ravishankar. The surprising fact was that there were almost 100 participants throughout the program. The effort taken by each and everyone of the class (as well as from other classes) could be seen.  

 Today the day began with Joju sir's class and the physical science association continued with their seminar. We were introduced to the software 'Hot Potatoes', which can be used to make online quizzes. If I had known this earlier I would have used it for 'Mathletics'. The topic was handled by Ancy and Gayathri of Physical science association and they did a great job. Later we had Ancy ma'am's class where we discussed about social change. Ma'am made us switch on our cameras to take a group photo. It felt good too see many faces after a long time.

 Today the first class was by Deepthi ma'am. She taught us 'How to Write a Lesson Plan'. We'll soon be divided into groups to write lesson plans on our own. Later we had Giby ma'am's class where we discussed about the defense mechanism, 'Sublimation'. We had come the end of our week-long event, 'MATHLETICS' on Friday. The results were calculated and the poster of winners were ready by Sunday. Aby did a great job in making a one of a kind winner's poster. Nothing would have been possible without Aswathy's and Sajin's support. The credit of the success goes to everyone in class and our mentor Deepthi ma'am.  

 Today the first hour was Physical Education and we had theory class. In the class we learned about the components of physical fitness. The second hour was Giby ma'am's and we discussed about creative thinking and how it is the basic nature of human being and not a god given ability. Ma'am also taught about the defense mechanism 'displacement'. Later we had our optional hours and we began with year planning, unit planning and next we'll be moving onto lesson planning. I never realized that teaching required such levels of planning. 

 On 19th May 2021 the first class was Deepthi ma'am's and we discussed about 'Pedagogy'. Later we had Maya ma'am's class where the social science association continued their seminar presentations via Whatsapp. On 20th May 2021, the first hour was Joju sir's, where the physical science association started their presentation on Open educational resources which is the continuation of my seminar topic CC license. Sir, ended the class with the story of the Dodo bird found on the islands of Mauritius and the dodo tree or tambalacoque. Later, we had Ancy ma'am's class where we discussed the role of education in democracy.   

 Today the first class was taken by Joju sir. The social science association completed their presentation. All of today's presentations were very informative esspecially, Azni's and Albin brother's presentation on Cloud Computing. Later, we had Ancy ma'am's class during which we discussed about the American philosopher and psychologist John Dewey.  Today is the second day of  'MATHLETICS' and we'll be posting the next question soon.

 The day 18th May 2021 is special for two reasons, one it was the inauguration of Malayalam association 'സപര്യ' and second it was our,  Mathematics association's logo release and inauguration. Malayalam association had a 1 hour session for the inauguration and the chief guest was a well-renowned writer, Shri Deepu P. Kurup. Though there were some technical issues, the timely assistance of Ancy ma'am helped them to put up a great show. We, the Mathematics association had done our inauguration and logo release through Youtube. With Josena's help we were able to get hold of the movie actor Mr. Appani Sarath to do the inauguration. As usual Sajin was behind the curtains working on the video, editing , mixing the audio etc. After the inauguration we planned to do a week long program 'Mathletics' for the students of  MTTC. Aby, Aswathy and I are the coordinators for this event. Aby did a great job in designing the posters for both the inauguration & Mathletics

 Today the first hour was allotted for Deepthi ma'am. During the hour ma'am gave us an introduction to Lesson Plan writing and the different components of  'Content Analysis'. For the past one month we've been doing the content analysis for class 8 and class 9. Till now we've completed class 8 and the class 9 submission is coming up. Moreover, we are planning our association inauguration on Monday. So, its preparation has been in full swing. Later, we had Joju sir's class where Social Science association started their presentation. 

  Today the first hour was by Joju sir and sir started off the class with the inspiring story of Oprah Winfrey and the rest of us from Maths (except Aleena) did our presentations, each one was very informative. Shilpa did a short and crisp presentation on 'Phishing', Rubeena & Kavya did an insightful presentation on 'Netiquette, Aswathy and Josena did a detailed presentation on 'Software Piracy' and  finally Archana did her presentation on 'Plagiarism' with the help of a spectacular Powerpoint presentation. Later, we had Giby ma'am's class where we discussed the seminar topics shared in the Whatsapp group.

 Today the first class was Ancy ma'am's, during which we discussed about Aristotle and his principles. Later, we had Joju sir's class and it was Sajin and my turn to present our topics, 'Copyright & Creative Commons'. First Sajin did a very detailed and eye-catching presentation on Copyright. I was nervous but somehow managed to present my topics without much blunders. Later, Neema did her presentation on 'Hacking' and gave a insight into the types of hackers. 

 The first hour was allotted for Ancy ma'am's class. Due to technical issues ma'am couldn't take the class but instead we referred the ppt shared on Google classroom to prepare notes on Aristotle.  Later we had optional class where we continued our discussion of Bloom's Taxonomy.

 Today the first class was by Joju sir and we the Mathematics Association began our presentation. Revathy and Aby did their presentation on 'Cyber Security'. This was followed by Sruthy and Pranav's presentation on 'Password Security'. Their ppt was very different and vibrant. Later we had physical education class by George Thomas sir. He demonstrated 'Siddhasana' and few warm up exercises.  

 The first class was by Ancy ma'am. We learned about Sri Aurobindo and his educational policies. It was a short class and we too down all the important point about him from the ppt. Later we had our Optional class. Today we continued with Bloom's Taxonomy and took a peek into 'Lesson Plan' writing. In the coming classes we'll be dealing with it in detail. Lots of works to do and so little time.

 Today the day began with Joju sir's class. The malayalam associatiin continued their presentations. It was Sukanya's presentation on INFLIBNET that stood out for me. She did a very detailed and well researched presentation. Later we had Maya ma'am's hour during which the Social Studies Association continued their presentation.

  The first class was by Deepthi ma'am. We discussed about the 'Hierarchy of skills in affective and psychomotor domains of Bloom's taxonomy. Later, in Giby ma'am's class the English association began the topic 'Multiple Intelligence Theory' of Howard Gardener. According to him, everyone not only possesses inborn intelligences  but also intelligences they acquire as they move ahead in life. Often our intelligence is measured by our cognitive abilities but their is much more to a person than that. Ma'am also introduced us to the term 'Tenth Apple Effect' to explain why all of us are tired of listening to theses seminars. It not the apple's fault but it is the mentality of the person that makes it less appealing.
