Expectation is a Tricky Word

The day started with Joju sir's class to discuss about tomorrow's PTA meeting. Few ideas were suggested by the students to make the meeting more lively.

Later our class was busy cleaning and decorating the class for NCTE visit. At the same time we were busy adding and removing items from the programs list for the Talent Hunt to be held on Thursday. Unfortunately, Maths optional will begin the programs and we are still not ready. After the great theme play we had put up for the Republic Day, all eyes are on us expecting us to outperform ourselves. But none of us are confident and moreover, two of our classmates will not be there on the day to perform. Also, Aswathy joined the class today. Looking forward to getting to know her.

Not a Typical Movie Review

We were assigned with the task of watching a movie and understand its educational implications. I had chosen the movie 'Dead Poets Society (1989)' directed by Peter Weir starring the late Robin Williams. I'd seen this movie a while ago but this time, I decided to watch it to understand what makes John Keating different from other teachers. This Academy award winning movie is set in a conservative boy's boarding school named Welton's Academy which is known for churning out disciplined and academically brilliant students. The story focuses on a group of seventeen year old boys and their English teacher John Keating (Robin Williams). John Keating is a nonconformist and lives by the phrase 'Carpe Diem' which means 'seize the day'. He encourages his students to get rid of their fears, find their voices and live their lives to the fullest through poetry. Sports Meet 2022

Finally, the day is here. We've been scheduling the sports meet for quite some meet. It had to be postponed due to unexpected rains and finally, it was conducted on Sep 12 and 13 soon after the Onam holidays. We had shotput, javelin throw, 50m, 100 m etc. The involvement and participation in the second years were a little low compared to the first years. Events like shot put, javelin throw, 50 m race etc had good participation. The selection of students for the finals of each event was done on the first day. The finals followed by prize distribution were done on the second day. I was supposed to run the100m race but had to pull out due to previous complications in my leg injury. But I got to participate in the march past which was totally unexpected. By the end of the day, we were dead tired from the scorching sun, but it was all worth it.

Back to Campus!

Didn't know I would be able to say that 👆 in a long time. We had new timings (9.30-15.20) for the week, which I kinda like better than the old one (just because of the breaks). This week in Joju sir's class we discussed about the 'Indicators of a Good Class' and had a small introduction to research. In Maya ma'am's class we went through some of the problems with pre-primary education in India. We began Giby ma'am's class with a congratulatory dance for the newly engaged and newly weds. Later we learnt about the types of motivation. In optional cla sses we had our seminar presentations and I must say with each seminar the Ppt slides are becoming more creative. Finally, in this week's Ancy ma'am's class I got back the feeling of sitting in a Math class. We did statistics problems throughout the week. Exams are approaching, submission deadlines are here and I'm in the middle of it all, unable to decide where to begin.
